“Making a martyr – Distraction by polarization” by AFK

• A piece (“Making a martyr”) by local artist AFK has caught a lot of attention the past few days, and caused a lot of fuss:

• The piece is criticizing the media’s coverage of the process of removing Sylvi Listhaug as the Minister of Justice in Norway. She is representing the political party FrP. The artist thinks the media should should pay more attention to the “bigger picture”. The piece shows headlines like: “YEMEN”, “HUNGER”, “Mass surveilence”, “Free Palestine” and more.
• After a few days, someone painted over the piece: Bergens Tidende
• Here is a poll about the piece.  Is it appropriate?.
• A gallery owner wants the artist to make a new version of the painting.

• Some students tried to salvage the painting by removing the black paint from it. Later on it seems that the painting has been sold to the highest bidder.
